Several papers involving team members have been published in many important journals and we have participated on the Brazilian Primatology Conference.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_118\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-118\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-118\" src=\"https:\/\/neoprego.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/3929489705_8fed93dbf7_o.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"Adult male capuchin monkey using a stone to dig for roots.\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.neoprego.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/3929489705_8fed93dbf7_o.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.neoprego.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/3929489705_8fed93dbf7_o-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-118\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Adult male capuchin monkey using a stone to dig for roots.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On July the paper from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/neoprego.wordpress.com\/membros\/\">Tiago Fal\u00f3tico<\/a>\u00a0about the digging tool use by Serra da Capivara capuchins was published on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-017-06541-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scientific Reports<\/a>. \u00a0This paper describes the digging stone tools used to access food items by two groups of capuchins on Serra da Capivara, a behavior that, so far, was only register in that population.<\/p>\n<p>On September a conjoint paper from Tiago and <a href=\"https:\/\/neoprego.wordpress.com\/membros\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michele Verderane<\/a> was published on <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s10329-017-0631-x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Primates<\/a>. This paper describes an amazing behavior of capuchin monkeys, that can both eat or threat snakes, depending on the level of danger posed by the snake. The monkeys threat and mob potentially dangerous snakes, but capture and eat harmless ones. Fal\u00f3tico<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Still in September, Tiago and the <a href=\"http:\/\/primarch.arch.ox.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PrimArch<\/a> team published a review paper about Primate Archaeology, showing up the accomplishments of this new research area and future directions. This paper was published on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41559-017-0286-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nature Ecology &amp; Evolution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Mariana Foga\u00e7a and Tiago had a wonderful participation on the Brazilian Primatology Congress, held at Piren\u00f3polis-GO, presenting the latest developments of their research and joining interesting discussions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:right;\"><em>Credit picture of monkey eating snake: Noemi Spagnoletti<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align:right;\"><strong>[vers\u00e3o em portugu\u00eas]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Os dois \u00faltimos meses tem sido agitados para os membros da Neoprego. V\u00e1rios artigos envolvendo membros da ONG foram publicados em importantes revistas e n\u00f3s participamos do Congresso Brasileiro de Primatologia 2017..<\/p>\n<p>No final de Julho o artigo de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/neoprego.wordpress.com\/membros\/\">Tiago Fal\u00f3tico<\/a>\u00a0sobre as ferramentas para escsavar usadas pelos macacos-prego da Serra da Capivara foi publicado na revista\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-017-06541-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scientific Reports<\/a>. \u00a0Esse trabalho descreve as ferramentas de pedra usadas por dois grupos de macacos da Serra da Capivara para acessar alimentos, um comportamento que at\u00e9 o momento s\u00f3 foi registrado nessa popula\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Em Setembro um artigo conjunto de Tiago e\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/neoprego.wordpress.com\/membros\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michele Verderane<\/a> foi publicado na revista\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s10329-017-0631-x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Primates<\/a>. Este trabalho descreve o incr\u00edvel comportamento dos macacos-prego, que podem predar ou amea\u00e7as cobras, dependendo do n\u00edvel de perigo que a cobra representa. Os macacos amea\u00e7am e d\u00e3o alarme a cobras potencialmente perigosas, mas capturam e comem as inofensivas.
