{"id":818,"date":"2017-07-11T12:42:40","date_gmt":"2017-07-11T15:42:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neoprego.wordpress.com\/?p=818"},"modified":"2017-07-11T12:42:40","modified_gmt":"2017-07-11T15:42:40","slug":"captures-capturas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.neoprego.org\/pt_br\/captures-capturas\/","title":{"rendered":"Captures | Capturas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<div>In the last two weeks we were in the process of capture one or two capuchin monkeys from the <a href=\"https:\/\/neoprego.wordpress.com\/rio-do-brasil\/\">Rio do Brasil Reserve<\/a> to install radio-colars on those individuals, to help us locate and habituate the group.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Plan and carry a primate capture is logistically complex, and although we had some problems this time, we manage to solve them by making good contacts, like the\u00a0CETAS (Wild Life Triage Center) at Porto Seguro, that lent us the traps, and we hope we can work with them in the future.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The first thing we did arriving at the reverse was install the traps to habituate the monkeys to them. We then proceed with the attempts to catch the monkeys, with the support of our veterinarian colleague.<\/div>\n<div>Spending 12h inside the dark blind each day, for 6 days, we waited for the monkeys. They did visit the place a some times, but, alas, they didn&#8217;t cooperate. They visited the place, but no monkey went inside the trap enough for us to activate it. Moreover, on the last say we had to flee from the blinds because they were raided by army ants.<\/div>\n<div>Well, thats the life on field work. This type of capture is difficult, and sometimes can take weeks of waiting until the monkeys are caught. Prosseguimos ent\u00e3o com as tentativas de pegar os macacos, com o suporte de nossa colega veterin\u00e1ria.<\/div>\n<div>Passando 12h di\u00e1rias dentro do esconderijo escuro, por 6 dias esperamos pelos macacos. Eles visitaram o local algumas vezes, mas n\u00e3o cooperaram. Nenhum macaco entrou o suficiente na armadilha para podermos ativ\u00e1-la. Para completar, no \u00faltimo dia nossos esconderijos foram invadidos por formigas-correi\u00e7\u00e3o!<\/div>\n<div>Bem, essa \u00e9 a vida de trabalha de campo na primatologia.
