Environmental Education
Research and conservation of primates and their traditions depend on the involvement of local communities. People living in the areas inhabited by monkeys share stories and observations that are important for understanding more about the lives of primates in that region. Some people also collaborate directly with the research, contributing to the development of scientific knowledge. Therefore, NeoPReGo is also committed to returning this scientific knowledge to the communities.

Through lectures and visits to local communities, we show videos produced during our research and bring tools used by the monkeys. The goal of these activities is for people to learn about and better understand the behavior of primates and other animals that inhabit the region. Visits to schools are especially important because many children and teenagers who live near these primate populations have never seen these animals. By showing these videos, we seek to promote the region’s fauna and discuss with students how we can conserve it.

We are also developing a course for park tour guides. These professionals are fundamental to conservation, as they are responsible for mediating the relationship between visitors and residents with the region’s fauna. The course aims to teach basic knowledge of primatology and discuss the experiences of these professionals, always focusing on the local fauna. In this way, when guiding people on trails in these areas, these professionals can answer people’s questions and curiosities as soon as they encounter the animals, as well as provide guidance on how to interact with the animals in a healthy way.

Social Midia
We also aim to share images and videos showcasing the natural behavior of primates on our social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky), as well as the results of our research. Many people cannot observe the lives of primates in the wild and are unaware of the social complexity of their lives. We believe that sharing these materials produced during our research can help people understand the importance of them living in their natural habitat and with their conspecifics.

We are open to partnerships for the development of activities aimed at environmental education and scientific dissemination. If you are interested in any of our activities, please contact us via email at neoprego@neoprego.org or through our Instagram page (@neoprego).
